National Year of Reading Ambassadors
Daniel and William are delighted to accept the invitation from the National Year of Reading 2012 Program to be their youngest Ambassadors.
“We think its fantastic to be Ambassadors and to be able to spread the word about the National Year of Reading. I always love my nanna’s quote, ‘You learn to read then you read to learn’. I hope we can inspire more kids around Australia to read more books and have a love of reading.”, said William.
Their invitation places them alongside other notable Australian writers who are also Ambassadors to the National Year of Reading such as Bryce Courtney, Anh Do and Andy Griffiths.
Daniel and William have now integrated their National Year of Reading ‘Ambassador’ship’ into their ‘School Talks’ tour around Sydney.
“We are very excited to be visiting the country schools as part of our ‘Country NSW/ACT School Talks tour’ and travelling to Canberra in the last week of June. We really want to encourage kids to pick up a book, any book, and just start reading. It’s amazing what you can learn from books.”, said Daniel.
