It is no secret that the care and protection of our planet continues to be one of the most urgent priorities of our lifetime

Jonty Bush, MP, Member for Cooper, held the inaugural Eco Forum at The Gap State Primary School. The forum’s objective was to highlight local and practical sustainable activities that can demonstrate how we can all take simple steps to protect and sustain our planet.

Daniel and William were asked to join a panel to discuss their impact on inspiring young people to care for our environment and talk about how deforestation has had such an impact on the critically endangered orangutan and how people around the world are trying to keep these primates from becoming extinct. The day was a great success with the Minister for the Environment and the Great Barrier Reef, the Hon. Meaghan Scanlon, opening the event.

The panel discussion was very informative including keynote speaker Jerry Coleby-Williams from ABC TV Gardening Australia who enlightened us all on ecological resilience.

Daniel and William were able to meet with Jerry after the event to chat about gardening and the orangutans further. There were exhibitor stalls on the day from plants to solar panels, coffee and cakes.

Thanks Jonty Bush and your team for organising this inaugural event with such success. We hope this will become an annual event.
