Thanks Toongabbie Public School!
As part of Daniel and William’s orangutan school talk program they were kindly invited to speak at Toongabbie Public School this afternoon and WOW what a welcome they received !
The original idea was for Daniel and William to present on the critically endangered orangutan and their amazing journey to a smaller number of kids (around 140) however the word had got around the school and it was decided their message would be best heard by the whole school, over 600 students.
Daniel and William took it all in their stride and were warmly welcomed by the Toongabbie Public School, School Captains and all the kids in general.
All of the kids were fantastic – you could have heard a pin drop as they held onto every word Daniel and William said. Dan & Will spoke for about 20 minutes and held a ‘Questions & Answer’ session afterwards which was kindly facilitated by the schools librarian and all-round “orangutan coordinator”, Renata Redman (thanks Mrs Redman – You Rock!).
After the presentation, and the many varied and interesting questions that Daniel and William received, they stayed around to sign some books for the kids.
With the overwhelming support of 80+ children, teachers and their parents, all queuing to get their book signed by the boys, we were all quite taken back by the level of support Daniel and William were receiving. The kids were so well behaved throughout the presentation, it was really great to see how well they understood the problems facing the orangutan and its habitat. After today I am sure that Daniel and William have inspired the kids to follow their passion just as they have done with the orangutans.
“Thank you Toongabbie PS, we had a great time”
