Rotary makes a big hit !

Daniel and William presented their orangutan quest to a packed house at the Springfield House Function Centre last night.  Over 120 Rotary Club members from West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook, Galston and Kenthurst clubs packed the venue to hear the boys speak of their passion for saving the orangutan and their amazing achievements.

The audience were both moved and motivated by the boys video and presentation with many people advising they have been inspired to make changes in their own lives.

Bob Davison, President of the Rotary Club, surprised Daniel and William at the end of their presentation with a cheque amounting to $2,000 which represented a collection of money raised by the club members over the preceeding weeks.

With other donations received on the night, from the audience and Springfield House, the boys raised a total of $2,242 to go to The Orangutan Project’s Safeguard Program.

This equates to the sponsorship of 6,156 acres of land and takes the total amount of land sponsored by Daniel and William to 20,079 acres !!

After their presentation the boys took time out to meet with club members and talk about their passion to save the orangutan and their journey to Borneo.  Daniel and William are also currently planning a “‘Tears In The Jungle’ Return to Borneo” trip in April next year in order to raise further awareness of the plight of the orangutan and are looking for people and companies interested in helping to make this happen (Please contact Rodney Clarke if you are able to help).

The guests were welcomed into the venue by seeing the ‘Tears In The Jungle’ Kia Grand Carnival parked at the entrance to Springfield House which brought greater awareness to their guest speakers on the night.  (Thanks also to Frank Anisse, Venue Manager of Springfield House who allowed us to park right at the front!)
