Pride of Australia WINNERS !! (NSW)

Pride of Australia – Daniel and William at Circular Quay

In a ceremony held at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay, Daniel and William Clarke were awarded the Pride of Australia Medal, Environment Category for NSW, for the work they have done to help in raising awareness of the issues facing the critically endangered orangutan of Borneo and Sumatra.

The boys were amongst some the state’s most bravest, courageous and selfless people to be honoured at today’s event.

It was a beautiful day beside the Sydney Harbour with finalists arriving from all over NSW after being selected by two panels of judges.  This year the NSW Pride of Australia medal received 800 entrants over 10 categories with between 3-5 finalists in each category.

With the event being attended by many notable celebrities such as the Premier NSW, Barry O’Farrell, NSW Origin Coach, Laurie Daly, actress Susie Porter and being hosted by the lovely, Sandra Sully, it was bound to be great day.

Daniel and William are overwhelmed with the recognition they have received in relation to this award.  As William put it this afternoon, “Daniel and I are just following our passion to save these beautiful orangutans and, as Daniel said on stage, we hope we can inspire the youth of the world to find and follow their own passion to make a difference in our world”.

Daniel and William’s generation will be the last to see the orangutan in the wild at the current rate of deforestation and destruction of their habitat.

Please help Daniel and William save the orangutan from extinction by either…
